Staying in PlaceYork and Surrounds Inc.

Get support at home

Staying in Place was developed in Pingelly. It makes it possible for older people to keep living in their own home, in their own rural or remote community, for as long as possible. It is about local people delivering local services, funded by home care packages.

What we can do

We can help around your home with tasks that are becoming difficult, help you get ready for your day, or support you to get back to doing the things you love or need to do.

  • Whatever your needs, we will work with you to build a plan for living your best life at home and in our community
  • Wherever you live in York or close by, whatever level of care you are eligible for, we will work with you
  • We help you through the My Aged Care system to apply for a Home Care Package
  • Once you have a package, or choose to self-fund, we coordinate the services you need

Who can apply

If you are over 65, or you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person over 50, we can help you navigate the My Aged Care system to apply for an Australian Government Home Care Package.

If you are on a full pension, you will not be asked to make any personal contribution for home support services.

Home Care Package levels

There are four levels of Home Care Package. Your level is decided through My Aged Care, and we work with you whichever level you are eligible for.

Level 1

For basic needs like essential cleaning, pet care and social outings.

Level 2

Everything in Level 1, plus meal preparation, cleaning, gardening and home maintenance.

Level 3

Everything in Level 2, plus domestic assistance, personal care, social support and allied health services.

Level 4

Everything in Level 3, plus high level care such as nursing care, allied health services and medication support.
